What therapy with me costs
Sessions with me, Mandy van Zwam, at Highfields Therapy cost £80 for 50 minutes, whether we meet in person in Beeston, Nottingham, or by video from anywhere in the UK. The 20-minute discovery call before we start is free. My private practice opens in early 2027, and you can join the waitlist now.
I am not a crisis or medical service. If you need urgent help, call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time), NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.

What does £80 cover?
One 50-minute session, in English or Dutch. The price is the same in the room and online. We meet weekly, at a regular time we agree, and there is no set number of sessions: we review together how it is going.
Before our first session I send you a short agreement to read. It covers fees, confidentiality and cancellations, so you know where you stand on money before we start.
Is the discovery call free?
Yes. When a place comes up, we talk for 20 minutes by phone or video about what is bringing you to therapy and whether working together feels right. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Joining the waitlist is free too.
What if I need to cancel?
Give me at least 48 hours' notice and there is no charge. With less notice I charge for the session, because I kept that time for you. If I have to cancel, I will always try to offer you another time that week.
Can I claim it on insurance?
Not at the moment. Private health insurers in the UK generally pay only for fully qualified therapists on their own approved lists, and Dutch or Belgian health insurers generally do not cover therapy in the UK. Some employers' wellbeing schemes pay for counselling, so it is worth asking yours.
What if I can't afford it?
Please don't go without help because of the cost. In England you can refer yourself to NHS talking therapies for free, without seeing a GP first, or ask your GP to refer you. Waiting times vary. Some charities offer free or low-cost counselling; your GP or NHS 111 can tell you what is available near you.
